Deep Stretch Yoga
The Deep Stretch Yoga classes offered at O'Wellness provide a slow, controlled yoga practice focused on stretching the muscles deeply. While relaxing the body, they increase range of motion. They offer a calm experience that supports recovery after intense training.
Deep Stretch Yoga is a 55-minute slow, calm yoga practice made up of passive poses held for 3–5 minutes, focused on deeply stretching muscles and connective tissue. Drawing on the principles of Yin yoga, it targets the fascia around the hips, hamstrings, spine and shoulders.
The class begins with breath awareness; poses are then held for a long time with the help of gravity and props (blocks, bolster, strap). There is no forcing: in each pose you stay at a level of ‘comfortable tension’ and deepen with the breath. The class closes with deep relaxation (savasana).
Scheduled after intense strength and cardio days or at the end of the week, Deep Stretch Yoga supports both physical recovery and sleep quality by calming the nervous system.

For first-timers
- Using blocks and bolsters is not 'taking the easy way out'; it is necessary for the tissue to relax.
- If you feel trembling or sharp pain in a pose, back off.
- It is the class that contributes most to sleep quality in the evening hours.
Where does it fit in the weekly programme?
