Barre
The Barre classes offered at O'Wellness combine ballet, pilates and functional training movements. By working the muscles deeply with small, controlled movements, they provide toning and balance. With their graceful yet effective nature, they offer a different kind of training experience.
Barre is a 45-minute, low-impact but high-intensity shaping class that combines ballet-based postures with pilates and functional training principles. High-repetition work in small ranges of motion tires the muscles deeply and builds endurance.
Class flow: warm-up and posture alignment, leg-glute series at the barre (plié, relevé, attitude variations), core and upper-body block on the mat, finishing with stretching. Body weight, light dumbbells and mini bands are used instead of heavy loads.
Barre is especially ideal for members who aim for a long, toned muscle build, want to protect their joints and want to improve their posture; it is an excellent complement to reformer pilates.
Class flow
| Duration | Section |
|---|---|
| 8 min | Warm-up and posture alignment |
| 25 min | Leg-glute series at the barre: plié, relevé, attitude variations |
| 12 min | Core and upper body on the mat, stretching |
For first-timers
- The small range of motion is deliberate; making the movement bigger reduces its effect.
- If your heels are not on the floor, calf fatigue is normal; take a break.
- Wear leggings and non-slip socks.
Where does it fit in the weekly programme?
It complements Reformer Pilates; it can be placed the day after a strength day. For current times, see the weekly schedule page, and for all formats, see group classes page.
