Crunch & Core
The Crunch & Core classes offered at O'Wellness target the abdominal muscles to build a strong, balanced centre. While shaping the core, they improve body posture.
Crunch & Core is a focused 30-minute strength class targeting the abdominal, oblique and deep core muscles (transversus abdominis, multifidus). It is not just the ‘abs’; the whole group of stabiliser muscles surrounding the spine is worked.
Class structure: breath and core activation, dynamic crunch variations, anti-rotation and anti-extension work (plank, dead bug, pallof press), a side core block and stretching. Easy and advanced versions of each movement are offered.
A strong core is the foundation of all strength and cardio training; as a short and effective complement that supports performance in other classes, the Crunch & Core class is recommended 2–3 times a week.

For first-timers
- If you feel neck pain, take your hands from behind your head and place them on your chest.
- If your lower back lifts off the floor, shrink the movement; core control comes first.
- Since it is a short 30-minute class, it can be added before or after another class.
Where does it fit in the weekly programme?
